Welcome - Margaret Shortle, Curator of the Museum for Islamic Art

collaborative audio/visual  performance Behrooz Moosavi and MMaria

The Museum for Islamic Art is pleased to present the collaborative audio/visual  performance of Behrooz Moosavi and MMaria in relation to the closing of its current exhibition, Capturing Iran’s Past – PhotoArt. The performance offers an immersive experience that integrates music, sound, and images in a responsive manner. Moosavi layers loops of modern Iranian music stemming from cassettes and music reels collected since his childhood. Jana Heiss from MMaria further layers moving photographic images in narrative and poetic response to Moosavi’s music.

Behrooz Moosavi is a Berlin-based musician, producer, songwriter, performer, music/event manager. With a long career in Tehran’s contemporary music scene, Moosavi aims to bring together numerous artistic voices from around the globe and showcase Iranian artists and musicians worldwide. He is the director of Tehran Contemporary Sounds, a contemporary art and music collective, festival and music label based in Berlin. Since 2018, Tehran Contemporary Sounds has offered two contemporary multi-media art festivals in Berlin that brought together more than 50 artists from Iran and Europe.
