Tandem-Sofa // Berlin meets Rembrandt's Orient

20 May 2021

Dear friends of the Museum for Islamic Art,

we would like to cordially invite you to the second Tandem Sofa on 20. May 2021 from 6:30 pm. Dr Ira Oppermann and Katja Şıdım will take their seats on our virtual Tandem-Sofa. The focus of the sofa talk is the current special exhibition "Rembrandt's Orient" at the Potsdam Museum Barberini. In a dialogue-based guided tour, we will talk about stereotypes and clichés and discuss what Rembrandt's paintings and those of his circle tell us about the European image of the "Orient". Special attention will be paid to the artist's working method, to his appropriation of the "Oriental". Learn more about this from the two talk guests on our tandem sofa.
