Dear friends of the Museum for Islamic Art,

We cordially invite you to the special presentation of the most valuable new acquisition of the Museum for Islamic Art in recent decades on September 12, 2023, beginning at 6:45 p.m. in the Lion Foyer (upper level) of the James Simon Gallery. A small reception will follow and there will be an opportunity to view the object in the Carpet Rooms.

"A Spectacular New Acquisition by the Museum for Islamic Art at the Pergamon Museum".

Through the support of the Ernst von Siemens Foundation as well as the Cultural Foundation of the Federal States, it has been possible, after long years of negotiations, to acquire one of the masterpieces of Persian art for the Museum for Islamic Art. The work of art, which will be unveiled at its new location this evening, has long had a close relationship with the museum. Its acquisition not only closes a gap in the collection, it is now finally possible to shed new light on, deepen and continue the history(s) of the collection. Curious now? We will unveil the masterpiece on September 12. We won't reveal more yet.
